Educating about TCKs and the life of being an expat is very important to me. Like you said, we’re not weird, we’re not bragging, we’re just different. We’ve lived in Europe for 14 years, in 5 countries, birthed my kids in a Czech hospital and struggled through learning some of these languages. Even when I read that I can see how people would think I’m bragging. Am I proud for all we’ve done? Sure, but not in a “rub it in your face” proud! My perspective and world view are just different, but I’m not weird! It’s inspired me to write more about this journey of being an expat and my children being TCKs. I actually don’t like the term “expat” as I feel it doesn’t truly explain who we are. We need a better term like the term TCKs, because we live in our own third culture world! Thanks for sharing this! I’d love to do something to connect others who have TCKs and find a niche of people who understand. If you have any ideas or are interested in joining up in some kind of endeavor, I’d love to hear from you about it.
