YARD SALE!
So we started the day by going to the post wide yard sale. Actually, after getting everything into the car, putting Ronan in his car seat, and figuring out how to get the jeep in the car we left for the yard sale. Only, to get everything out of the car and realize I had forgotten my wallet. Ryan only had $5 on him. So Ryan went back to the apt. to find my wallet and Ronan and I started browsing. There were a lot of neat stuff out there, but we kept our eyes open for only what we really needed. Too bad we hadn’t moved in a month earlier. We may have lots of things to sale! After we dropped off our goodies at home we left for a dealership to find out about our car. We saw it and Ryan took a test ride. Ronan and I stayed behind since moving the carseats is a big hassel. The owner had a little chihuahua named Scooby. She was really sweet and wanted to be held and rubbed. To my surprise, Ronan really did NOT like the dog. He jumped when the dog licked him and just seeing her made Ryan really upset. He kept giving me the big lower lip and starting to whimper. I was trying to understand how a big dog like Baci, slobbering all over him, will make him laugh. But maybe he just doesn’t like small dogs?
At the post wide yard sale we found some much needed and wanted items: High chair, diaper genie, fish tank, baby backpack carrier, and much more!

Can you believe it? We bought this for the unbelievable price of just $5US! We saw it and right away wondered if it was from the Umbrella Factory in Chiang Mai. Ryan asked the seller, to find out it wasn’t, but it was from Thailand. This is one item we couldn’t afford while in Thailand last summer…but really wanted. So for just five bucks, it is now sitting proudly in our living room. Once we get our cool low bed (Thing black platform) from IKEA, we want to put this on the wall like a head board. Very THAI!
…And the Fog Rolls In!
Today we got up relatively early. Ronan was really happy this morning and this made helped transition me from sleepy to awake. We got out of the house today for close to three hours. I put Ronan in the jeep and we walked over to Burger King. I had my usual, a BK Veggie burger. I let Ronan play with a french fry since he wanted to touch everything on our tray. I assumed he was going to bang it on the table or suck on it. Though next thing I know, he only has half a french fry left. I thought it must have fallen on the floor somewhere. Next thing that happens is Ronan starts making gagging movements. So I pat him on his back and stick my finger in his mouth (to fish out any french fry fragments). Out comes a pellet size piece of fry. So I go back to eating and he starts gagging again! So I pat his back and out comes another piece of fry. So I decided he probably wasn’t ready for french fries yet. Probably best…they aren’t very good for you.
We headed over the PX next and I picked up a couple of items as Ronan started to get fussy. We went to ACS next and by this time Ronan was having a huge fit. I started filling out a form to recieve a welcome packet. It was quite hard because Ronan was just sreaming in my ear. So I hand the form in and unbuckle Ronan from the jeep. As soon as he is in my arms, he stops screaming. No joke. So I found out about all these classes that are running this month and what services are availabe to me. I actually signed up for some “welcome to the military” classes as sort of a refresher course. I’m sure I know 95% of the information, and that the other 5% is stuff I didn’t know because I was a child and not a spouse. But anyways, I also signed up for the instructor course so that I can teach it as well. Thought that would come in handy. I am going to call up one program where I get certified to watch kids in my home. Even if I end up not wanting to do it, the whole thing is FREE. Plus insurance is free, they will refer people to me for free, and reimburse me for food. Also the certification transfers to any military base we move to. Definitly something to look into for extra income. I’m thinking any class I can sign into to meet new people is a good idea. I really need friends. Being couped up in this house, talking baby talk 24/7, is draining to say the least. I love my son to death…but I could use some girl time.
Ryan came home early today and was able to keep an ear open for Ronan, as he was taking his afternoon nap. I went to the commissary and did a huge shopping trip. There were so many people there…it was pretty crazy! I came home and made mexican for dinner. It was pretty yummy. Ronan ate some veggie puffs for the first time. I wasn’t sure if he was quite old enough to eat them. On the box it shows development stages for eating them, and Ronan isn’t doing all the things it has on there. So I kept a tight watch on him, ready to pat him on the back or reach in and get the veggie puff back. But he did alright. In fact he did fantastic with them. He would grab them from my hand and stick them in his mouth. He actually got upset when I went to put them away. So I gave him two more. They come in all sorts of flavours, but I got him the sweet corn flavoured ones.
He did his usual cry really hard for the first five minutes that I put him to sleep. But now we don’t hear a peap out of him. My mum, Ronan’s Nonna, said that my sister and I were not that easy to get to sleep. So I guess I can’t complain.
Well the kitchen is a mess so I should probably do some dishes. We have backed up dishes because the dish washer is nto working so we have two loads of dishes plus the ones from tonight. Actually the house is a mess because we don’t have a place to put anything. But we can’t buy any bookshelves, storage units, or a computer desk because we cannot fit anything in the car (dont get me going on getting the new tv home!!!!), and we are trying to find a minivan but can’t find anything affordable that is what we want in our area. It is especially hard because Ryan can’t leave 25 miles from the base while in phase two. Sigh….
Well Ryan is off the phone with his parents, so its time to cuddle!
