My self portrait ‘Nominate’ was taken today in response to being nominated for the MADS 2014 Blogger awards. I was so excited to find out I have been nominated in the following categories: Blog of the Year, Photography blog, and Family Travel blog. This week was love week and we ended on Valentines Day. It seems only fitting that my self portrait for this week be about love and so I present you with this piece entitled, ‘Il Mio Amore’. With red lips, red nails, and red flowers in my hair I hold on to what I love so much in life. My husband, my partner, my lover and friend. Self Portrait: ‘Into the Light’ | Bonnie Rose Photography © 2007 – 2014
First Self Portrait for February and I really wanted to play with black and white images again. I have a soft spot for that type of photography because I love playing with light and shadows. Which influenced the name for this portrait.
I took this self portrait on the roof of the Rondo Theatre in between scenes where I was not on stage during one of our matinee performances. I cannot express in words how much fun I had playing an 18th century princess in the Cinderella Panto and getting to dance around stage in pink and my hair piled high in curls. I honestly try to wear denim trousers as little as possible because of the fact that I love dressing up so much. Perhaps I was born in the wrong era.

Nine years ago today on January 4th I wrote my first blog post. I was days away from my due date of my first born and was excited to find a new way to keep in touch with family and friends all over the globe. So much has happened since that first blog post. I finally gave birth to my first child, I have moved about fifteen times, became a military family again, gave birth to my second son, became an expat family, and celebrated ten years of marriage with my husband. I look forward to seeing what this new year will bring!
A new year and I bring you another year of self portraits.
