Happy Mother’s Day!

Today is Mothers Day! It was just Nonna, Ronan and I today. Grandpa is on TDY, Daddy is at Basic, Zoe is antisocial with her own family…We went to church, came home and had homemade blueberry muffins. We had dinner at Chueys and Ronan had a special treat! Posted by Hello

Ronan had his first bites of real food! We had been giving him a taste of things like banana and apples (things he could suck on) and then I also tried putting grapefruit juice in his mouth…which he seemed to think was interesting! He had been pretty fussy, so Nonna took some banana, put it in the vita-mix, and then started feeding Ronan. He really liked it! Some came back out and went back in his mouth again…some went on his onesie…and some made it to his tummy. Looks like his is enjoying it! Posted by Hello

We will miss you Grandpa Chuckles!

Ronan in his new baby carrier….what a cutie! He kinda likes it….at least he liked it for a little while and then got upset later. He has been a little fussy today off and on…which is due to missing his daddy and having shots yesterday. Grandpa left today for Columbia. I thought we might be up when he left at 4 am this morning, but strangely enough Ronan slept till 5 am and then only needed to be tucked in again and went back to sleep. Be safe and have fun Grandpa…you will be in our prayers! Posted by Hello

Shots…Round Two.

Today has been a long day. The morning was pretty crazy. In the afternoon Grandpa Chuckles and I took RoRo to the health department for his second round of shots. Though there were tons of people there and we started at a line outside the building, in no time we were in and out of there. Ronan got three shots again (some of them had many vaccines in one). The first one surprised him and he started doing the “Bonnie lip” and tearing up. At the prick of the second shot his cry got a little more upset, and by the third shot he was very upset. I don’t think he wanted to be pricked anymore with large needles! “This woman looks like a grandma, but she doesn’t act like one,” thought Ronan. I gave him a big hug afterwards and we immediately made a beeline for the exit. As soon as we got outside he had stopped crying and had his cheek on my chest as he clinged on to me for comfort. Grandpa and I decided to have lunch at one of those breakfast-all-day joints. Ronan was happy as a clam and was having fun touching the apples on the placemat. I couldn’t believe how happy and chipper he was after those shots! What a brave little boy!

Ronan and I left early in the evening to go to the store to get a baby carrier, recommended by a fellow mom at the H.D.). Then I went to Barnes and Noble to look for a book. But when we got to the parking lot he started crying. He cried really hard for 15 minutes and NOTHING I did could calm him. Over Ronan’s screaming, I tried yelling to my mum in the cell phone to meet me where we were. Ronan settled down soon after and we walked around B.N. until Grandpa and Nonna arrived. Nonna sat in a big comfortable chair with Ronan, passed out on her chest. Grandpa got me a book which I heard about on Oprah. It is called Down Came the Rain, written by Brooke Shield.

Then we went to the talk-of-the-town restaurant, the Claim Jumper, where they are famous for there really yummy food, huge selection, and really HUGE portions. The appetizer make a meal and anything you order is big enough for two people easy. The deserts could feed a family of six….You can order something and have lunch for the next day! Ronan was really cute at the restaurant. He had woken up and was very happy. He does this thing where he sounds like he is talking. It isn’t cooing, but just making a lot of sounds that sounds like he is having a conversation. We started laughing because of him, when he looked like he wanted to eat my food! I’m not sure what it was he wanted or what he thought he was doing, but he looked really cute!

When I got home with him he was ready for bed. But I still gave him a nice warm bath, got him ready for bed, and fed him. Hopefully he will sleep really well tonight. I don’t know how he manages it, but when he wakes up he some how is turned so he is width wise in the pack and play instead of length wise. Then he has also gotten the top blankie off and unswaddled completely from his sheet. Then he is flailing about! I really do not know how me manages to get himself in that predicament.
