Our Day out on the Town!

I finished cleaning up and decided to wash my hair while Ronan was sleeping. Just as I got my hair wet there was a knock on the door. Wow…the pest guys were here before noon? Incredible! They got here before 0930! I was impressed. As the pest control guys got ready to spray our house, I finished washing my hair and got Ronan up. After throwing everything in our car we were ready to spend four mandatory hours out of the house.

Side note: As I was putting stuff in our car, I noticed the guys, who were laughing and joking with eachother, were wearing long black gloves. Instantly I got a sick feeling in my stomach. It wasn’t until we were off driving down our road that it hit me. The whole sanario reminded me of the bad guys from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I loved that movie as kid…still do!

Well I parked the car by the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) and loaded up Ronan’s jeep. I got out my camera and was ready to take pictures (click here for more pictures). We got on the bike path and made our way towards the beach boardwalk. There were lots of people with strollers, bikes, and dogs. What a beautiful day to enjoy the Monterey Bay! We stopped at the beach for a few minutes. We couldn’t go to the shore, but Ronan didnt have his trunks, hat or sunscreen. Actually I think we’ve lost his orange hat. I haven’t seen it since we left Tucson. We then headed to the main part of town. We went up and down the streets looking into the resturants and shop windows. Did you know Monterey has at least four british pubs? We stopped in a bagel bakery for some breakfast. I tried to give Ronan some melon, but he only mildly sucked on it a few times. Back on the road we headed towards the warf. There were a lot of places to eat seafood and lots of barking going on. We went further out to see what all the commotion was about. There were seals everywhere! We continued up the boardwalk, past the warf, and saw more seals spashing about in the ocean. We walked all the way to San Carlos beach and sat down for a few minutes.

By the time we got back to the car and then back to our neighbourhood, three and half hours had gone by! We stopped in Borders to kill half an hour before returning home. Ronan was getting pretty tired, so by the time it was safe to enter our house, we did. I opened the windows and doors for ventilation and put Ronan down for a nap. I got to see the first four episodes (so including the pilot) of M.A.S.H today. It was neat to see how much the characters have grown (As well as the actors!) from the series finale.

First stop on our walk was to the beach. But the jeep’s tires are not big enough to go through the sand. Ronan didn’t seem to mind…he really likes driving his jeep! Posted by Picasa

I swear we are somehow synchronized – only my bug guy keeps not showing up as planned.. Now he will be at my place tomorrow – unsupervised.. and I’m totally grossed out. You’re so right about the Roger Rabbit imagery!!
