Country Walk in Dollegau, Wales

First off if you are a reader from Casey’s blog, We Took the Road Less Traveled, and have come here by way of Essentials for a Country Walk, thank you for stopping by! Today I continue our recap from our 10th Anniversary in Wales.
It is our first full day in Dollegau and we took the first part of the day fairly easy by exploring the town and taking all the kids to the park.  Ryan really wanted to do more exploring, so despite the looming dark clouds he got me out of the house for some alone time.  It was a good thing we had waterproof shoes and rain jackets for we got rained during the walk back.  However the rain only enhanced our experience in the picturesque countryside of Wales.  Between all the wild life I got on camera (minus the deer that leaped out into the road…it was too quick!) and the beautiful backdrops it was as if we had stumbled into our own fairytale.  When you are celebrating ten years of marriage what else could you possibly ask for?
It always astounds me how much of a work out a simple country walk can be and how hot it can get with my wardrobe choices.  So when it decided to pour down rain on us, i actually welcomed the cool rain with open arms.  Seeing the really dark clouds and many electrical lines we decided to do an impromptu run back to our bed and breakfast.  I loved every second of it and so glad that Ryan convinced me to a pre dinner country walk.  It become one of my most favourite and cherished memories from our trip. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Looks like a wonderful place to go for a walk, and I really like your pink boots. And… did I see a smartphone addict moment? haha

Thank you I love my boots. Best Christmas present my mum has ever gotten me because I use them so much. and yes…probably are smart phone addicts, but in this case Ryan was using it for directions. One of the best apps for the phone we have is where you can down load ordinance maps of locations for country walks and it records your journey. :)

Okee, that sounds like a good reason to be using a phone during a walk.

Ooh, I love your pink Hunters! Walks in the rain can feel really wonderful and peaceful, especially when you run across such treats like horses and beautiful flowers! :)

Beautiful photos!! The horses and the geese sticking their heads through the fence make me a little homesick! I wish we had farmland close by. :o/

Hi Bonnie! Love this post as well as the one on Casey’s blog. One question I have (because I’ve really wanted to do a good long country walk lately) is where to go? I know there’s a ton of places, so many so that it’s a bit overwhelming, and being based in London, my knowledge of the city is definitely more advanced than my knowledge of the country.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers! Melanie x

So glad you like my guest post on Casey’s blog. :) Are you based in London then? What I would suggest is looking at that app I mentioned that you can get on your phone which has the ordinance maps and seeing from there which foot paths are near you. Maybe pick a country side location you would like to try a pub at or something sight worthy and then look at the foot paths around there. We love going to a pub after our walk. :)

Awww. Yeah they were really lovely and the geese came all the way across the field to say hi…or look to see if we had food. 😉 I loved all the horse in the area. Its my favourite part about living int he country. Technically we live right out side of Bath, we can walk into town easily, so its nice being on the cusp of both worlds.

IT was so beautiful! I hope you get a lovely fall/autumn in the US this year! I love when the leaves change. x

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

yep. We got to use a backpack that charges it too so that we always have our navigation. had to go without a few times which makes for some interesting walks when the kids are tired and its getting dark. 😉

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Absolutely! I love being in the country, but I also need civilization nearby to feel comfortable. That’s the type of set-up we had in Tennessee. London has been a bit of a shock, to say the least! :o)

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/05022023043718407104 Bonnie Rose

Yes, London based at the moment. :) I’ll definitely check out that app! Thanks! :) x
