Favourite Travel Film

lost-in-translation-arthouse-drama-rare-original-movie-posterI love being inspired about travel, culture, and places around the world while at home.  Watching films is a great way to fuel that wanderlust.  One of my most favourite films of this genre is Lost in Translation by Sofia Coppola.  It has two actors I really enjoy seeing on screen, highlights a country I’ve not been able to see from outside the Tokyo airport, and an engaging story with characters that make you want to rewatch the film over and over again.

Bob: Can you keep a secret? I’m trying to organize a prison break. I’m looking for, like, an accomplice. We have to first get out of this bar, then the hotel, then the city, and then the country. Are you in or you out?

Charlotte: I’m in. I’ll go pack my stuff.

I don’t know about travel films, but my favourite road trip film is Wild at Heart… it’s quite brutal, though.

I loved this film!! Scarlet Johansson is awesome, plus she has as much cellulite as me, which makes me happy :)

I’ve never seen this movie, although I’ve heard all about it…and I’m sitting here trying to think about my favorite….the cinematography in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice is fantastic…..I’m also enjoying Outlander, at the moment, and its gorgeous shots of Scotland….and then Game of Thrones..they showcase several countries, Ireland, Iceland, and Croatia, among them…and The Lord of the Rings movies definitely pushed my desire to visit New Zealand.

Recently saw Lost in Translation for the first time…captivating and funny, but I can’t say it was my favorite of all time. I did love Midnight in Paris (I got engaged the night we saw it!) and also love Notting Hill, and The Holiday, for the scenery of London/England.

Oh my gosh, I love Lost in Translation! It has been too long since I last watched that movie, thanks for the reminder, I should totally watch it again soon. I’m not sure whether it’s technically a travel film, but I also really love Midnight in Paris.
