Second Swim Lesson

Tonight was Ronan’s second swim lesson. He did a really good job! I practiced getting him in and out of the pool. He would sit on the side of the pool and I would hold his arm with one hand and urge him to fall in towards me with the other. He thought it was fun. He swam really good with both arms and legs towards toys in the pool. He also enjoyed swimming on his back and it looked like it was really relaxing for him. He just talked away as he floated! I tried dunking him a couple of times but he swallowed water both times….

Before we left Sasha snapped at Ronan. I was watching them and had just looked away for a second. Ronan had been playing with fruit puffs when Sasha came over and laid down next to him. He must of strayed away from the fruit puffs and pulled on her or something. But next thin I know I hear her snap and Ronan starts crying. His shoulder and neck were red and there were inmprints of where she bit him. I was really upset and put the dogs outside. Ronan was fine after a while but there are two small bruise marks from where she snapped at him. The future of the doggies are currently pending.

Foot Prints

Ronan and I got to playgroup a little later today than usual. Usually we are the first ones there. It was a late morning for us. Ronan played with the other little boy his age and they shared eachother’s fruit puffs. We left earlier because we didn’t have the car today (no gas) and had to get to Parents Place by 1200. We were the first ones there and Ronan loved talking to Ms. Joyce. We made pumkins today as an art project and Ronan had fun using his feet. We sang songs and then talked about food issues. I had a huge issue since Ronan really just eats formula. He’ll eat off my plate, but really doesnt eat any food i prepare for him. We really cant afford to buy him baby food if he isnt going to eat it. Now he has low iron, so its been a kind of a stressfull issue at home, for me at least. Listening to the other mothers talk though made me feel like I really didnt know what I was doing. The babies that are 5 months and older all all eating baby foods. The mothers could say which fruits and which vegetables they were getting and how much. Plus they could say how much formula or breast milk they were getting. I really dont know the answers to any of that and now my baby has low iron. So it was kind of hard to share today for me.

Ronan fell asleep on my shoulder in class. He really doesnt do this, and I was so touched when he did. I kept watching him while he slept in class. He looked so happy, so content, and looked like he felt protected by me. That made me feel a little better.

No meat

So I was told to give Ronan lots of meat. Well the only meet we really have in the house is tuna and sandwich meat. Since I needed the tuna for our dinner, I tried giving him some warmed up turkey. I tore it in pieces and even tried to eat some myself, but he was NOT interested in eating anything. We couldnt even get his mouth to open. So once again all he had to eat today was formula and a bite of tuna from the can I used.

Ronan is still working crawling. He won’t get too far yet. But we definitly cannot leave him alone anymore because he can get into anything he wants now.

He is still saying mummamumma which is really cute. I can’t wait till he figures out what it means!

Tonight was his first swim lesson at the sports center in town. We had to park on the other side of the tennis courts so it was a little walk to the center. I wore my suit underneath my clothes so it was pretty easy to ge ready for the pool. We met another mommy and her son while we were in the locker room. Both babies were pretty excited about going to the pool. When we got to the swimming pool we joined all the other kids and parents on the bleachers while the previous classes finished their class. I think Ronan’s class is called the starfish class. But anyways, they called the name of his class and we all got in the pool. We sang songs and practiced going under the water. We played with rings and had our babies jump from the side of the pool into the water.

Our instructor told me to count to three and blow on his face on three. When you do that babies usually close their mouths so you can dunk them. Every time I tried Ronan opened his mouth. Needless to say every time we did it he probably swollowed water. But he had a good time. He loved chewing on the ring they passed out. He was an even better swimmer from last time he go in a pool. I would put my hands on his chest and he would be tummy down in the water. Basically I’m just supporting him so he doesn’t drown. Ronan did all the work by kicking and even using his arms to get around. I would put a toy in front of him and he would swim to it! It was so neat! The only time he got upset was when I returned a rubber duckie to the bin and we got out of the pool. He wanted to swim for longer than thirty minutes. I admit the class went by really fast.

The hard part was getting us both dry and dressed in the locker room. It was a challenge with a baby. We came home and told Daddy all about his swim lesson.
