Today I am going to be following up my travel post from Barmouth Wales, when I posted about The Beach at Barmouth Pt. I back in the summer. This is part II and our third trip to Barmouth Beach during our 10th Anniversary Vow Renewal trip to Wales.  We just loved being at the seaside and this time we actually go into the cold water. Well my sons did anyways and the rest of us enjoyed hanging out on the beach.  The picturesque views and salty air were just what I needed. Now that it is getting cold and November is approaching, I really enjoy soaking up the last memories of Summer.
(Also as a side note the girl pictured below is my sister)

My (Expat) Love Story in Wales

Earlier this week I posted My Family Portraits in Wales that were taken this summer for our 10th Anniversary Vow Renewal, by my friend Miriam. You can see the ones I took of her family at Travel: Cymer Abbey Family Portraits.  I decided to save the sweet romantic ones she took of just Ryan and I for today.  Think of these as a sweet teaser for the official wedding photographs from our vow renewal. It has not been since Hawaii that we have had our photographs taken by anyone else and I really appreciated all the hard work my friend Miriam did for us.  Here is our expat love story in Wales:

My Family Photos in Wales

While we were in Wales this summer for our 10th Anniversary Vow Renewal, my friend Miriam took our family portraits.  You can see the ones I took of her family at Travel: Cymer Abbey Family Portraits.   If you love travel posts, remember tomorrow is Travel Tuesday and you can link up with us on the blog.  We just got back our family portraits this weekend from the Cymer Abbey and I was so excited to share them all with you today on the blog.  Since I had so many favourites I have kept out the romantic ones of just Ryan and I, to share for another day.  These photographs are so precious to me because they contain our family members.  It meant so much to us for our vow renewal that our family be there to support us.  My mum and sister were ready to book their tickets once they heard the news last Christmas and I know my dad would have been here if he was still alive.  I must have taken so many photographs myself of my mum and my sister with my boys, photos I know that Ronan and Maddox will cherish as they grow older.  Family is everything to Ryan I and why we enjoyed our time in Wales so much.  Here is mia familia (thank you so much Miriam!):

Travel: Cymer Abbey & Family Portraits

So glad everyone is looking to these Travel Tuesdays! I have been looking for ways to make this even better so will be sharing my favourite posts every week as well as starting a once a month themed Travel Tuesday which we will start in October. More news about that next week so keep your ears opened!  I want to say that sometimes travels are not just about pretty photos…it is about the times that go wrong.  Who could have written it better than Claire from the Grass is Dancing.  Check out this expat’s post from last week!  Also do not forget you can win 45 days of ad space from me at ACR on my blogtember post  yesterday.
Exploring Ruins.
In Wales near the town of Dolgella, in the village of Llanelltyd, are the ruins of a Cistercian abbey that was founded in 1158. The Cymer Abbey is just beautiful and it became a perfect backdrop for family photographs for us while we were in Wales. So for Travel Tuesday today I want to share with you how you can have family photographs while on vacation.   All you need is to bring a professional photographer with you….like me! Here are some of my favourites from the day as my friend Miriam was expecting her fourth baby during this shoot.

I have a new featured sponsor on the Blog this month!  Meet the stunning red head of The Skinny Girl blog.  She is a girl after my own heart because even though she not yet left the US, her first destination goal is Italy!   I will love getting to explore her first time in Venice having grown up in Napoli.  Her blog is fun as she focuses around good recipes and fitness posts.  You must check out this super yummy Salsa recipe. As an expat living in England I really miss a good salsa! Visit her blog and let me know what your favourite recipe is that you find!

Travel: Talyllyn, Wales

Find out about what life is like where I live in Bath, England by seeing my guest post on Alesha’s blog: Lifeology.  Another week begins in September and I look forward to telling you more about our time in Wales. Today it is about our rainy day spent in the town of Talyllyn, Wales.  To get here we took a ride on one of the steam engines in Wales, which I blogged about last week.  We were quite ready for lunch so we walked through the town and found a perfect little cafe where inside we hit out from the rain.  I ordered the tomato soup with a side of chips and it ended up being the best possible choice for lunch. Not only was the soup made fresh that morning, but the chips were made from scratch upon order.   It was my family’s turn to cook dinner that night so we stopped at the butcher in Talyllyn before heading home.  My husband purchased two different kinds of sausages to go with our sweet potato mash. All in all it was the end to another perfect day, even with the rain.

Barmouth Beach Pt. I

Since so many of you enjoyed the post about our evening at the coastal town of Barmouth in Wales, I thought it only fitting that I follow up with a couple more beach themed posts in the town.  We spent sunset at the nearly empty beach on this particular evening and it inspired a follow up beach day later that week.  During this occasion it was quite windy and tiny sand particles stung our face as our hair flew about in the wind.  The tall grasses seemed to dance and the sand was textured by the ribbed pattern the wind created like art.  In our exploration of the beach we found an Easter Island type statue watching out towards the ocean in solitude.  My hawaiian raised boys had fun playing in the sand and running up and down the dunes.  With the setting sun and the picturesque town views behind us, I walked away to the car leaving my regular glasses (I was wearing my prescription sunglasses) and my hair clip in the sand.  Luckily once in the car I realised it was not on my person and we made a mad dash to locate the items.  Needless to say the area had a way of capturing my heart and keeping my attention away from worldly matters and onto the details of simple beauty and the wishes that the ocean holds.

Q: Do you have a place that can put you perfectly at ease or capture your heart, mind, and/or soul?
