Valentines Day Gift

I have been asked ‘What and why would be the best gift idea’ for Valentines Day?’
For me days such as these are another excuse for me to have my DSLR out and my iphone camera ready to take photographs of memories to share and cherish.  The most important aspect of my life is my family and those precious moments we share together.  The best gift I could give or receive would be a memory for us.  One of my favourite things about living in England is being outside and taking country walks.  A Valentines day themed picnic  would be a perfect place to stage the day.  They say ‘that the way to man’s heart is through to his stomach’ and bringing themed foods like bacon hearts and chocolate dipped bacon roses would definitely make my husband happy.  To be fair though I would be just as happy. Definitely a pretty out doors location, good company, good food, good wine, and photographs to remember the moment forever.

With much thanks to Pinterest these images are not mine, and you can find out more about them by clicking: 1) Valentines Day Picnic with themed Stationary 2) Bacon Hearts 3) Lamb Rose Bouquet which is something I would love to give to my Valentine.

Let me ask you now:  What would be your best Valentines day gift idea and why?

Maddox gets his Cast Off.

The boys got their very own library cards this week and we checked out quite a number of books.  It is really convenient being a short walk away and we will probably go at least once a week.  The boys found out about a new book series called ‘My Weird School’.  We are going to see how far we can get into the series because the library is having a party based on it.  Next month they will have a Scooby Doo party.  Its nice having things for the boys to look forward too while we are here.  One thing we have been looking forward to is having Maddox’s cast taken off.  Maddox got to keep his cast and we celebrated by having celebratory pancakes for breakfast afterwards.

Back to School

The boys went back to school this week and started our new journey: The Adventures of Home Education.  We are not sure when we are going back to England, so being able to home school will help keep us going through out this transition period.  The boys and I have already had a lot of fun and I look forward to the rest of the school year.  We started the week with taking our ‘Back to School’ photographs. Enjoy!

Week 2 of July Photo Challenge

I like to take photographs, it is no secret.  My poor kids constantly have a camera in their face every day of their life it seems.  To keep my weekly blog posts from being too photo heavy (as if that would be possible), I am keeping the Photo A Day challenge photos to a separate post.  Here are the Instagram challenge photos for July for the last week:

Reorganized the Shelves

I took all the books and clutter off our shelves today and then reorganized the whole lot.   We do have books in the office of our flat as well, but these are the ones displayed out in our living room.  From left to right and starting with the shelf on the left we have Theatre, Poetry, and Military History inspired novels. That leads us into our faith and theology section and then into our travel and linguistic section.  On the other side are all of our novels and favourite fiction series.  The very bottom rows of both shelves have a good misc. sections including history, nonfiction, photography, yearbooks, etc. I

Organized the books on our shelves.

Good Food & Film

The boys and I rewarded ourselves with cleaning at home to get outside at the park today.  Ronan brought his camera and was a little photographer and I think this got Maddox a little jealous that he did not have his own camera to use.  Good thing he has a birthday coming up!  Tonight after the boys went to bed I decided to watch one of my all time favourite films with Audrey Hepburn called Roman Holiday.  If you have not seen this film yet, I recommend watching it tonight!

PALEO: Spicy stir fry with ginger beef, cayenne peppered shrimp, carrots, spinach and zucchini.
