5 Simple Ways to Ward off the Winter Blues

winterblues

While I have been enjoying the online photos of my friends playing in fluffy white snow and on winter vacations, I have been experiencing a very wet winter here in England.  Between the news updates of Somerset’s current flood crisis and the number of umbrellas that we have had damaged by the strong winds, it draws my thoughts to our past years of living the island of life in Hawaii.  Where a simple trip to the beach bought happiness, a rainbow resulted in a smile, and people walked around with aloha spirit.  The point of it all being that weather can really have an effect on our mood.  So what do we do when we get burdened down by the ‘winter blues’?

Self Portrait: ‘Il Mio Amore’

This week was love week and we ended on Valentines Day. It seems only fitting that my self portrait for this week be about love and so I present you with this piece entitled, ‘Il Mio Amore’. With red lips, red nails, and red flowers in my hair I hold on to what I love so much in life. My husband, my partner, my lover and friend. Vow Renewal: The Naked Cake

Vow Renewal

We are nearing the end of Love Week and one day away from the ceremony photos and video.  Today we fast forward to the return back to our B&B in Wales where we changed outfits and had some cake! I wore the same trousers from my wedding, but opted for my favourite colour top instead of the white blazer this year.  It is our 10th Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewal in Wales and I wanted to do keep things simple while making everything perfect and designed around us.  When it came to the cake I decided to do go the naked cake route.   Continue reading

Vow Renewal: Beach in Wales

Vow Renewal

We are over half way through Love Week and so close to Valentines Day.  I have been having fun sharing with you some of my most favourite photographs taken by our long time friend and photographer Miriam Pinkston. We we asked why we chose Wales as our destination for our Vow Renewal and honestly it has the best of everything.  Breathtaking views, rich culture, history, romantic settings, and picturesque coastlines.  The places I have lived the longest have always been by the sea and it was so important that we get our pictures taken by the ocean. Vow Renewal: Portmeirion, Wales

PortmeiriontitleIt is Travel Tuesday and we continue Love Week here at A Compass Rose.  Today I take you to the coastal resort of Portmeirion.  This is where we had our ceremony for our 10th Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewal in Wales.  It is a really beautiful town that has a very Italian look to it as it is nestled in the woods and on the coast of the Welsh ocean.  The colours are beautiful and it was a perfect place to renew our vows.
